Nine pupils admitted to hospitals after storm damages a Kisumu school.
Following heavy rains last evening, a strong wind destroyed classrooms at Kisumu East Sub County’s St Aloys Mayenya Secondary School, sending nine students to the hospital with injuries.
While receiving treatment and being released from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Chiga, other students also sustained injuries.
Judith Atieno, the school principal, reported that during the intense downpour of last evening, a thunderstorm destroyed two classrooms as well as the staff room.
She stated that the students were out of danger adding that the incident left others in shock but all is under control.
She added that the heavy rains left behind a trail of destruction with the affected classes roofs all blown off as a result.
