The town of Voi was rocked on Tuesday morning when an unidentified man climbed a mobile phone tower in the heart of the CBD and refused to come down despite requests pressure from witnesses and the police.
The man, quickly nicknamed “Voi Boosterman” by locals, was first seen at 6 a.m. and had climbed the pole overnight.
His continued climbing to the top of the post worried the public, who feared he would commit suicide..
As the situation escalated, fire engines from the Taita Taveta area arrived at the scene along with a team of fire fighters, who immediately began planning a rescue operation.
