Ahead of Coastal derby, Madaga warns SS Assad
SS Asad has scored six points from the first three league games this season, while the Mombasa star has just one point from three games. Speaking to the media, Mombasa Stars coach Hussein ‘Madaga’ Mohammed believes they have learned from their mistakes in the opening games and urged his charges to forget the off-field issues and performance.
We will focus on the derby, like any other game and we will win. We started slowly this season, with two defeats and a penalty, although it was a very difficult game.
“I’m glad we didn’t walk away despite all the financial challenges we faced. Our boys got involved and qualified for MOFA so we can build on that,” said Madaga.
SS Assad, who have only lost to Naivas FC this season, have also been released for the derby.
According to the coach, Felix Ogutu, the players are ready to give their best “and the results will take care of themselves”.
“It will be a very difficult game because Stars are without a winner at the moment.
“Three of our key players are injured, but we are not afraid of them (Mesa Stars),” Ogoto said.
The derby is expected to take place on Sunday at the Sarani stadium.
