Mutai says Shujaa is primed to dominate the World Series once more.

The national sevens team Shujaa is prepared to return to the HSBC World Series when the new season starts in December, according to Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Chairman Sasha Mutai.

After being relegated to the Challenger Series the previous season, Shujaa swiftly restored their standing in the top league, and according to Mutai, they will be back for good.

Following careful preparation under the direction of Head Coach Kevin “Bling” Wambua, the team excelled in the Challenger division and earned a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they placed ninth.

The team has recovered from their Paris performance in time for their return to the World Series, and Mutai is optimistic that they will be a formidable force in the premier rugby league in the world.

The team has been chosen, and in anticipation of their comeback to the series, they have been training. They are enthusiastic and hardworking. Naturally, we’re expecting an amazing show and a step up from the level we’ve been playing in the Challenger,” Mutai said.

“This country has a lot of talent; all we need to do is nurture them, and we’ll have a large pool of players to choose from in the future,” Mutai continued.

In the interim, the Chairman has emphasized the importance of the government’s role in the development of the sport.
