The UK’s Volkswagen subsidiary has consented to pay a sum exceeding 21.5 million, spread over 110,000 customers, after the Financial Conduct Authority found it “failed to treat its customers fairly during financial difficulties”.
FCA stated that between 2017 and the middle of 2023, Volkswagen Finance did not take into account the individual characteristics of customers or provide support according to their needs..
The FCA said in one of its reports: “This means that Volkswagen Finance sometimes takes cars from vulnerable customers without considering other options. This causes people to suffer. to the problem, especially if they rely on their car to get to work. Volkswagen Financial Services on Monday acknowledged the mistake and apologized to those affected. n “We are aware of our shortcomings in these past cases, and we have made some important changes in recent years to ensure that we continue to provide the appropriate level of service,” said in a specific context.
“We are suspending our repair work while we continue to make good payments to affected customers and apologize for any inconvenience caused,” he added.
