Online attack by angry Kenyans on Senate systems

Senator Nandi Samson Cherargei has introduced a bill that would increase the term limits of presidents, governors in their positions, as well as members of parliament and state assemblies, from five years to seven years.

The public participation period ends on Friday the 25th of October and Kenyans are invited to submit their comments by hand delivery to the Clerk of the Senate or email .

A public hearing on the bill is currently being held at the KICC, Nairobi, to gather information on the views of Kenyans.

The bill has been widely criticized as many Kenyans have expressed their dismay at the government’s deafness to governance.

According to the Senate, more than 200,000 submissions have been received in their email system, which has reached its maximum capacity for allocated email addresses.

The Senate invited Kenyans to use senatejlahrc@parliament. go. ke to submit their comments.

The Senate said in a statement: “Thank you for your decisive response to the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2024. Statements of complaint”.
