On Sunday morning, activist Boniface Mwangi was reported missing. Njeri Mwangi, his wife, claims that the photojournalist was removed from his Machakos County home at approximately 7:15 a.m. “My husband @bonifacemwangi was forcibly removed from the house this morning at approximately 7:15 a.m. by six ignorant individuals who went to Courage Base. Njeri posted on X, “I don’t know who they took him with, why, or where.”
The aforementioned disappearance comes after the blogger and activist launched a campaign to “occupy” the Standard Chartered Marathon in Nairobi. Mwangi rallied Kenyans to “occupy” the city marathon this week by using his social media platforms to post anti-Ruto messages on clothing, carry flags, and hold placards. Mwangi said, “You are an important component of the race; your encouragement will inspire and energize the athletes and aid in the reform of our nation in the process.”
Additionally, he stated that the protest would honor those who were killed by police brutality during recent demonstrations that claimed over 60 lives.
