Final moments of the dismembered body of a girl in Kiambaa.

Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating a femicide incident concerning a 19-year-old individual whose severely mutilated body was found outside their residence on Friday, November 8, in Kiambaa, Kiambu County.

Sharon Atieno, also known as Nicole, went for a leisurely walk outside her home in Kiambaa  one night to make a phone call. Unfortunately, she did not return before her body was found at a nearby farm.

While sharing the final moments of the departed, the roommate mentioned that she departed on Thursday evening after letting her roommate know that she craved some fresh air and needed to make a phone call. She never appeared again.

“That evening, she left quietly, and the next day I even inquired with her boss to confirm if she had shown up at work, only to find out that Nicole had not arrived,” shared Charlotte Vudembo, the friend, with the media.

Vudembo mentioned that she attempted to contact her later but was unable to reach her. The next encounter she had with her absent friend took place at a banana plantation in  Gacheru, where she found her friend’s body severely mutilated.

Nicole was likely out for a late-night walk to release herself from the weight of emotional  struggles after her mother’s passing, as mentioned by her friend.

Vudembo shared that the deceased was out for a walk to soothe her emotions as the anniversary of her late mother’s passing approached.

“She would often mention to me that this time of the year is especially difficult for her, as it marks the anniversary of her mother’s passing,” Vudembo shared softly.

Her friend refuted suggestions that Nicole might  have been suffering from depression, instead pointing out that her tragic death could be yet another instance of femicide.

Fredrick Njiraini Kimani, the farm owner where the body was found, shared with the press that as he was going about his usual activities on the farm, he came across the body.

Local residents near the farm mentioned that the individuals responsible for her death could have used a hacksaw to inflict a deep cut on her neck which extended across her body.

Njirani recounted that upon arrival for inspection, he found a lifeless female body indicating that she had been killed.

Authorities are probing the  circumstances surrounding her passing by tracing her final communications, particularly her mobile financial transactions, as they perceive this to be a significant development in their investigation.

“We are meticulously examining the cellphone, communication, and other  investigative leads. ” Currently, we are still in progress with the investigation, as stated by a senior police officer in the region, Pius Mwanthi.
