Wetangula selected President of East African Community Speakers.

Moses Wetangula, the Speaker of the National Assembly, was elegantly chosen on Wednesday, November 13th, to lead as the President of the Bureau of East African Community Speakers.

Using Social Media to announce the news, Wetangula expressed gratitude to his regional  counterparts for placing their trust in him for the position during the bureau’s 18th meeting, which took place in Nairobi.

He expressed deep gratitude for the trust his respected  colleagues have placed in him to guide our shared vision for a thriving East African Community.

He expressed gratitude towards his predecessor, Dr. Tulia Ackson, Tanzania’s former National Assembly Speaker, and extended congratulations for her successful term of service.

I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to my esteemed  predecessor, Dr. He expressed admiration for Tulia Ackson, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, highlighting her exceptional leadership and notable commitment to promoting unity among Member States. This was demonstrated through the successful organization of the East African Games, establishing a solid groundwork for regional collaboration and economic development.

In his latest position, Wetangula assured collaboration with fellow counterparts in the region to advance mutual goals and shared objectives.

He restated Kenya’s firm dedication to achieving the realization of the EAC integration agenda.

In his statement, Wetangula also conveyed Kenya’s preparedness to host the forthcoming East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) games in Mombasa.

Wetangula mentioned that in our coastal city, participants will be promised an exceptional  experience, thanks to its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty.

He invited the EALA members to relish the gathering and see it as an opportunity not only to recharge after busy schedules but also to deepen their connections with each other.

He added that he encouraged colleagues to understand that by working together harmoniously, we will construct a stronger and more enduring East African Community,  ultimately bringing about sustainable prosperity for our citizens.

Recently, Wetangula secured another position within an African legislative body as he was chosen to be part of the advisory council of the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures (CoSPAL).

It gathers legislative leaders from across Africa to collectively tackle shared challenges on the continent.
