Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: A YouTuber defeats a former heavyweight champion by a unanimous decision

At AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Jake Paul won an eight-round heavyweight bout against Mike Tyson by unanimous decision on Friday. Both fighters wore 14-ounce gloves rather than the customary 10-ounce gloves for heavyweight bouts, and the bout, which was approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, was contested at 2-minute rounds. 

In 1986, at the age of 20, Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs) became the youngest heavyweight champion. A year later, he had undisputed all three major titles. Before losing to James “Buster” Douglas by tenth-round knockout in February 1990, he had successfully defended the three titles six times.

Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) began boxing in 2020 and won six straight fights, most of them against former mixed martial arts competitors. Paul has won five straight fights, including the decision over Tyson, since his lone defeat in February 2023 against Tommy Fury.

After being knocked down by some left hands in the third round, Tyson, wearing a knee brace, never really put up a fight, but he played defense well enough to avoid suffering any significant losses.
