Gautam Adani agreed to pay over Kshs 30 billion in bribes
Recently, Gautam Adani a prominent global wealthy figure has faced allegations regarding a significant financial case in fraud on Wednesday in New York. He is the chair of the prestigious Adani group from India.
Through deceptive and inaccurate statements, the renewable energy company garnered over $3 billion. The main reason for bribing was to secure a contract for solar energy supply anticipated to generate $2 billion in profits. Adani and two executives (his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain) from Adani Green Energy have been accused of paying bribes of over $250 to the officials of the Indian government between 2020 and 2024.
There’s been no response from India’s embassy in Washington concerning the matter. Silence is looming in the Adani group as they fail to give any comment upon requests. Early on Thursday morning, the charges were made public. Other charges include three workers from a Canadian institutional investor, and related conspiracy criminal offenses on five more individuals and two executives from a different renewable energy company.
A warrant of arrest has been authorized by a judge for Gautam Adani and his nephew sagar Adani according to information from court documents. Records in the court show that the authorities are planning to transfer the warrants to international law enforcement.
Out of the eight defendants, seven reside in India and hold Indian citizenship. the eighth defendant Cyril Cabanes holds dual citizenship of Australian nationality and French nationality and he resides in Singapore.
