The Ministry of Health unveiled a logo design competition

The Ministry of Health has launched a national logo design contest for the Digital Health Agency, an agency under the government that will spearhead the modernization of healthcare provision by assimilating innovations in the digital space.

The contest is open to any Kenyan either as individual citizens or businesses legally operating in the country, the agency said Tuesday in a soft announcement.

The Digital Health Agency (DHA) is inviting eligible candidates to take part in the Logo Designing Contest for a logo of its own, according to a paragraph in the notice.

The prizes will be Ksh150,000 for first place, Ksh100,000 for second place, and Ksh50,000 for third place. The competition will begin on 26th November and end on 17th December. Participants have, in the interim been invited to send their entries to the Social Health Authority SHA building, Upper Hill, Nairobi.

Entries must be submitted through US Postal Mail. No electronic submissions will be accepted.

The logo design should be submitted by participants in one envelope only with six high-resolution colour copies and six black-and-white copies; all copies are to be printed on A4 paper. Soft copy of the design on a flash drive, please.

Bidding was therefore conducted through a single envelope. According to the notice, the proposer is to pack all proposals in a single envelope, and on the outside of the envelope, the tender number is to be indicated only and not the identity of the bidder.

The seven guidelines that will make up the award criteria will include the use of high-resolution colors, the name of the agency, and an interesting tagline, all contributing five marks each. Factors to be considered include creativity, impact, and novelty. The aesthetics shall be well-thought-of, with delightful combinations of warm and attractive colors.

It is important that the emblem should be simple in nature to serve a wide range of uses across various forms of publications in hard and soft media. It should be well distinguishable on all DHA materials.

Entrants are encouraged to provide a written description of their design, detailing its graphic identity, rationale, tag lines, connotations, inspirations, and other relevant information. This will earn them an additional 10 marks.

Submissions without the required accompanying documents will be promptly disqualified from the competition.

The required documents are the national ID or business registration certificate, a tax compliance certificate, a filled business questionnaire, self-declaration forms, and personal information for all participant

The DHA played a critical facilitation role in the transition from the no longer functional NHIF to the establishment of SHIF. Despite expert admissions of difficulties with the system, this new competition suggests plans for the system to become more accessible and integrated into the healthcare business.
