20% of Kenyans believe Cs Kindiki will succeed Gachagua if impeached

60% of Kenyans are unsure of who they would choose to succeed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in the event of his impeachment.

When the Senate convenes to consider DP Gachagua’s impeachment motion next week, 20% of Kenyans surveyed said they would rather have Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki take his place.

Five percent of the one thousand respondents surveyed were in favor of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi taking over.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga received 2% of the vote, while Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro tied at 4%.

However, the survey shows that 73% of Kenyans are dissatisfied with the direction President William Ruto’s administration is taking the nation.

“Most of them (Kenyans) listed expertise and experience as the reasons why they chose their candidates, with Kindiki leading in this area,” stated Johvine Wanyingo, Research Manager at Infotrak.

According to a schedule created by the Senate Clerk, DP Gachagua will testify against the impeachment grounds on Thursday, October 17, for four hours, from nine in the morning to one in the afternoon, followed by a second session for cross-examination.

Gachagua’s attorneys will also have the opportunity to call witnesses to testify during this time, which they hope will help him keep his job.

His legal team claims to have several witnesses prepared, but they withheld their identities.
