Doctors in Machakos county are threatening to go on strike because of failed promises from the government.
Patients in Machakos County might not be able to access medical services in public facilities from Wednesday next week as doctors and clinicians announce a strike.
Despite giving the county notice for two weeks, health workers have still not addressed important issues that they have been advocating for over the last two years.
The campaigners are calling for the proper redesign and promotion of specialists from all levels, as well as the implementation of a return to work policy and comprehensive medical coverage for health workers before transitioning to Social Health Authority (SHA)
Addressing the media at the Machakos level five hospital, Dr Charles Okumu said doctors are expected to perform tasks that meet their professional standards, the county government has failed to comply with their demands, “chairperson KMPDU Eastern region.”.
Those who use health services in Machakos County and other nearby counties were warned that they would not be attended to as their employer has refused to take care of their demands.
