Dr. Dan Gikonyo: Gachagua is in stable condition at Karen Hospital.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in stable condition following his admission to Karen Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Chief Cardiologist Dr. Dan Gikonyo told reporters outside Karen Hospital that Gachagua was admitted at approximately 3 PM due to excruciating chest pains.

“This afternoon, the deputy president was brought in. He arrived at around three o’clock. He had severe chest pains when he arrived. Around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dr. Gikonyo stated, “He is undergoing various investigations, blood tests, ECGs, all the things we do to find out if there is any danger.”

“He is stable at the moment,” he continued. There is less pain. The blood pressure is normal, and the investigations are still ongoing.

In order to guarantee Gachagua’s safety, Dr. Gikonyo stated that he would need to be closely watched for 48 to 72 hours. He stated that in order to ensure his safety, “we have to keep him in for about 48-72 hours.”

Shortly before the Deputy President was put on the witness stand for cross-examination in his Senate impeachment trial, he became ill.

Gachagua’s legal team told the Senate that he had been taken to the hospital immediately before his scheduled testimony time of 12:30 PM.

the process’s time-sensitive nature.

Paul Muite, his lawyer, begged the Senate Speaker to give Gachagua’s condition some time before he returned by 5 PM. However, arguing that the trial was time-sensitive, the National Assembly’s attorney disagreed and urged the Speaker to hold the trial without the Deputy President present.

Gachagua’s legal team told the House that he had been admitted to Karen Hospital after being diagnosed with severe chest pains when the session resumed at 5:00 PM. In order for the Deputy President to recuperate and take part in the proceedings, they asked the Speaker to give them five days until Tuesday of the following week.
