Gachagua in stable condition at Karen Hospital says Dr Gikonyo
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was admitted to Karen Hospital on Thursday afternoon; as a result, his condition is stable. Chief cardiologist Dr. Dan Gikonyo told the media outside Karen Hospital that Gachagua was admitted at 3 PM due to excruciating chest pains.
This afternoon, the deputy president was granted admission. He arrived around three o’clock. He had severe chest pain when he arrived. About 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dr. Gikonyo stated, “He is undergoing various investigations, blood tests, ECGs, and all the things we do to find out if there is any danger.”
He went on, “At the moment, he is stable. There is less pain. Blood pressure is within normal range, and our investigations are still ongoing.” Gachagua would need to be closely watched for 48 to 72 hours, according to Dr. Gikonyo, in order to guarantee his safety.
“To ensure his safety, we need to confine him for a minimum of 48 to 72 hours,” he stated. Shortly before the Deputy President was supposed to go on the witness stand for cross-examination during his Senate impeachment trial, he became ill.
Gachagua was scheduled to start testifying at 12:30 PM, but his attorneys told the Senate he had been taken to the hospital urgently.
Gachagua’s legal team reported to the House that he had been admitted to Karen Hospital due to severe chest pains after the meeting reconvened at 5:00 PM. In order for the Deputy President to recuperate and take part in the proceedings, they asked the Speaker to give them five days until Tuesday of the following week.
