Opposition leaders have vowed to challenge the Adani deal in court. Where is the clarity on the 30 year power contract? Strongly Kalonzo opposed the new contract between the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) and Adani. He further added that the speed at which things were finalized is questionable.
While addressing the media, Kalonzo Musyoka emphasized the strong public opposition to the operation. “Despite massive public opposition, the 95 billion Ksh contract with KETRACO was signed by the government, but, we shall challenge it.
Critics have said that the government made unclear bidding process involving Indian companies.
Making unwavering statements, Musyoka assured Kenyans that they will not allow the country’s assets to be sold under their watch, and vowed to challenge the move in parliament, through the courts and public demonstrations. The opposition also dismissed the recent impeachment proceedings against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as a diversionary tactic aimed at shifting focus away from the multi-billion-shilling deals.
“The issue here is not Gachagua,” Musyoka asserted. “This parliament lacks the moral authority to adjudicate on such matters of national importance, having already been impeached by Kenyans on June 25th.”
In his statement, the opposition has accused the National Council of being distracted and not paying attention to important national issues and focusing on political situations.
Musyoka critically coitized the public participation process around the debate in parliament, saying it was a “a debate unsuspectedly about William Ruto himself” and asked whether the true views of Kenyans were accurately recorded..
