Lawyer accused of car theft released on Ksh 200,000 bail
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has confirmed ownership of a vehicle allegedly stolen by former Trident Insurance lawyer Reuben Urbanus Kioko.
KRA produced a document to the court stating that the vehicle in question was owned by Muus Kenya Limited..
Kioko, who appeared before Hon Ben Mark Ekhubi at the Milimani Magistrates’ Court in Nairobi on October 8, 2024, is accused of stealing a car, a Hyundai valued at Ksh. 300,000, from the Capitol Hill Towers in March 2023.
Kioko’s payment was brought by the Commander of the Capitol Hill Police Station, Nairobi, and forwarded to the DPP’s office for verification.
The defense attorney was arrested on April 30, 2024 and released on police bail after taking notes during questioning. The Commander of the Capitol Hill Police Station ordered Kioko to appear in court on May 10, 2024 for trial, but she was indicted on May 16, 2024.
