Liam Payne of One Direction dead after falling from Buenos Aires hotel balcony
According to Argentine police on Wednesday, Liam Payne, 31, was discovered dead outside a hotel in Buenos Aires after falling from the balcony of his third-floor room.
The capital police said in a statement that they were alerted to the presence of an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol” at the hotel in the green Palermo neighborhood of the capital.
According to the statement, the hotel manager reported hearing a loud noise at the rear of the establishment. When the police arrived, they discovered that a man had fallen from his room’s balcony.
The British singer, who was reportedly discovered in the hotel’s interior patio, was confirmed dead by emergency personnel.
On social media, the BRITs British Music Awards, streaming service Spotify (SPOT.N), U.S. music channel MTV, and opens new tab all shared their sorrow and condolences for his family and loved ones.
In 2017, Payne and Cheryl, a British TV personality and singer for Girls Aloud, had a son named Bear.
According to case-related audio taken from the Buenos Aires security ministry, police had been called by a hotel employee asking for immediate assistance with an intoxicated visitor.
There was a balcony in the guest’s room, which put their life in danger. “When he is conscious he is destroying the entire room and we need you to send someone,” the worker said.
Fans and onlookers who had gathered through the early evening, some crying and hugging each other, erupted in applause as emergency personnel took the body from the hotel to be taken to the morgue.
