The Kenya Meteorological Department predicts there is a chance of isolated storms and significant rainfall in certain areas of Kenya starting from Wednesday.
According to a weather forecast released on Tuesday, certain areas in Meru, Tharaka, Embu, Kirinyaga, Kitui, Garissa, and Tana River are expected to receive a daily average rainfall exceeding 50mm.
Rainfall is forecasted to persist over the highlands to the east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Coast, and North-eastern Kenya regions until Sunday.
Showers and thunderstorms can be expected in certain areas during the afternoons, with a chance of occasional night-time showers, in the Highlands to the west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.
The temperatures in these locations will vary from 8°C to 33°C.
In the North-western region of Kenya, expect scattered showers and rainfall in some areas throughout the day, occasionally continuing into the night. Temperatures will range from a cool 10°C to a toasty 36°C.
In the highlands east of the Rift Valley, particularly in Nairobi County, morning rains are anticipated in certain areas, followed by afternoon showers in various locations, and scattered night-time showers. The temperatures will vary between 8°C and 28°C.
In the north-eastern region of Kenya, some areas can expect morning rains, along with afternoon and night-time showers in select places, as temperatures range from 17°C to 38°C.
Morning rains are forecasted in certain areas of the lowlands in south-eastern Kenya, with scattered afternoon and night showers likely. Temperatures ranging from 12°C to 34°C are expected.
The Met Department anticipates daytime and night-time showers in certain areas of the Coast region, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 34°C.
In various regions of Kenya, sporadic showers have already started to be observed as the short rains season commences in the country.
