Nelson Havi: Ruto should dissolve parliament

Nelson Havi the lawyer believes that President William Ruto should now dissolve the National Assembly and form a new legislative body for the government.
In his opinion, the threat of Vice President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed the weakness of the government’s structure and that the government cannot do its job with the current crisis.

“You separated the neck from the body and the lamp, which is a good thing because it looks like the structure has failed. Either fix it or build a new structure,” Havi said..

Havi said that Parliament’s move to remove Gachagua was an achievement by President Ruto and that he must clean up his leadership to regain the trust of Kenyans.

The lawyer said that despite calls to remove the president, Ruto is still good at leading the country and needs time to put the house in order.

“When a ship goes down, the captain is the last one to leave the ship,” he said.
Members of Parliament voted against Gachagua on Tuesday after a day of impeachment in which 281 voted yes, 44 voted no, and one abstained..

The motion brought 11 charges against the vice president, including violating the constitution, violating the presidency and the cabinet, overthrowing the authority and undermining the independence of the law by attack before the judge.

Other charges include defamation, economic crimes, spreading falsehood, sedition, sedition and incitement, civil disobedience against the president, and continuing to threaten the government and public officials.

This decision has been sent to the Senate to decide on Gachagua’s fate.
