ODM appoints Junet Muhammed as Kindiki’s successor

The opposition party of Raila backs Muhammed, but emphasized that President William Ruto has the final say.

Responding to a question from the presenter who asked if the opposition party thinks amid reports that ODM is actively asking for more representatives in the cabinet to support the policies and programs of the government,

This MP said in this context: Yes, we mentioned a name, Junet Mohammad.

According to the MP, Kithure Kindiki may have submitted his resignation letter to President William Ruto as the National Assembly moves to confirm him as Deputy President.

This member of parliament alleged: “The position is vacant, the resignation is a private matter, maybe he wrote his resignation to the president. Resignation does not need to be announced.

Friday 18 October, the National Assembly approved Ruto’s decision to appoint Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President following the dismissal of Rigathi Gachagua.

This happened after 236 representatives voted for Kindiki’s approval to take the vice presidential position.

“Honourable members, the vote for Prof. Kithure Kindiki to fill the position of the next Vice President of Kenya, was 236, the vote was overwhelming. Yes,” Wetangula said. n n Junet Muhammad is the current Minority Leader of the National Assembly and representative of the Suna East MP.

ODM’s recent advancement coincides with a period when President Ruto’ government is backing the party, and its leader has been seen to hold cabinet posts that are against the opposition.

If appointed as the home affairs CS, Junet will join four other ODM members who have been nominated to join President William Ruto’s cabinet.

Other ODMs serving in the Cabinet include Hassan Joho (Mining), Opiyo Wandai (Energy), John Mbadi (Treasury) and Wycliffe Oparania (Cooperatives and MSMEs Development).
