Raila avoids Catholic Bishops’ condemnation on Ruto’s leadership

On Friday, November 15, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga opted not to comment on the recent criticism directed at President William Ruto by Catholic Bishops, indicating that he plans to release a comprehensive statement soon.

At a press conference held at Capitol Hill, Odinga chose to focus on the broader issue of equitable revenue sharing. He highlighted the need for progress in this area and urged lawmakers to facilitate the decentralization process to ensure that all communities benefit fairly from national resources.

We must be aware of the issues we raise, He highlighted the necessity of being factual when engaging in public discussions on topics that are significant to Kenyans,  and avoid replicating the same character we criticize in leaders.

Under the leadership of Archbishop Maurice Muhatia of Kisumu, the catholic bishops expressed burning concerns about important issues facing Kenyans, urging political leaders to rise to the occasion. The people need fair taxation, address unemployment as an urgent matter to look into, ensure consistent implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) education program, and facilitate a smooth transition from the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the Social Health Authority (SHA).

In response to a journalist’s question about the Catholic Church’s criticism of Ruto, the ODM leader firmly stated that he would address this issue in a more appropriate forum. He emphasized that the current discussion must focus on the critical matter of revenue care and encouraged the audience to ask any general questions they might have.

The Catholic Bishops strongly criticized the leadership of President Ruto terming it as a leadership full of deceit and promises which never materialize.  We wish this administration would halt the ‘culture of lies’

Kenya Kwanza administration has questions to answer regarding undisclosed killings, abductions, and pervasive corruption.

They asked the president to address these challenges effectively for the betterment of the citizens.
