As doctors in Machakos County begin their strike, the county has warned that those involved in industrial action will not be paid.
According to the Chairman of the council departments, Albanus Mutisia, among the ten departments of the council, the health department is the only one that has been renovated in the last three years, so They will not submit to this unfair approach.
According to Mutisia, the previous general punishment resulted in a huge financial loss for the council as the butcher doctors were paid their millions in salary for 50 days they did not report at work.
He confirmed that they have fulfilled all the demands of the doctors except for the promotions, which he confirmed will not happen until they reach five thousand workers in other departments.
“Doing this is like feeding a child while others watch from the sidelines,” Mutisia said.
Speaking to the media at the governor’s office, the Machakos County Secretary, Muya Ndambuki, said it was not fair to meet the demands of the doctors because the council’s salary was 44 percent, more than 9 percent of the legal ceiling of 35 percent. %
He warned that the increase could put a strain on the city’s financial situation.
Ndambuki said: “The Ministry of Health, which spends 53% of the total budget in the county, has seen the promotion of more than four hundred health workers 20 from 2023, ongoing.
He said they plan to add 1,265 doctors to the remaining health departments..
Meanwhile, doctors, pharmacists and health workers said they will continue their strike until the county meets their demands.
At the press conference last week, the doctors said that the county should send experts for all the leaders, to implement their promotion and to implement the return-to-work method that they advocated for the past three years.
This means that patients who seek medical services at all health centers in the county will continue to suffer even though there is still a deadlock between the doctors and the county.
