The country now has one more confirmed case of mpox, bringing the total number of cases to 14 according to the Ministry of Health. In a statement made public on Thursday, Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa stated that Uasin Gishu County was the location of the case.
The cases are split up as follows: two each from Nakuru, Kajiado, Bungoma, and Taita Taveta (I). Nairobi (I), Mombasa (I), Makueni (I), Kericho (I), Kilifi (I), Busia (1), and Uasin Gishu (I) are the locations.
Out of the confirmed cases, CS Barasa reported that five people are receiving treatment and that eight have fully recovered.
Additionally, she said that there is still only one death, which happened on October 11, 2024, involving a patient who had previously tested positive for mpox but had since recovered. “We continue to prioritize contact tracing efforts.
Three of the 68 listed contacts tested positive for mpox, and 61 of them have finished the mandatory 21-day follow-up.
In the past 24 hours, 30,237 travelers have been screened at our Points of Entry (POEs). Since the outbreak’s beginning, 1,362,657 travelers have been screened overall across 26 POEs, according to the CS.
